A survey shows that the age of 18-22 is a high-risk stage for psychological problems, which is precisely the stage when people leave high school and start a new life. They need to adapt to the new life and new learning methods, and in the process, they will have some anxiety and depression, and there will be a lot of pressure. According to the "2022 College Student Mental Health Survey Report" in China's third mental health blue book jointly released by the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Social Sciences Academic Press, about 21.48% of college students may be at risk of depression, and 45.28% of college students may be at risk of anxiety. College students urgently need professional guidance in emotional regulation, self-awareness, interpersonal communication, and other aspects, and learn mental health skills. Despite the increasing demand, there is a serious shortage of treatment resources, and college students have low satisfaction with the available psychological resources.
In response to this phenomenon, RICI foundation began to attempt to collaborate with enterprises and psychology experts to carry out a psychological empowerment project for college students in 2020. The aim is to help college students recognize themselves, correctly handle emotional issues, and learn good interpersonal interaction methods through innovative and diverse forms of activities (campus activities, lectures, workshops), popularize mental health knowledge, enhance the social emotional learning ability of college students, and help them face difficulties and challenges in life and studies with a positive and optimistic attitude.
Roadshow activities
The campus conducts themed activities, providing opportunities for college students to engage in enriching and fun experiential activities that enhance their social emotional competence, such as improving interpersonal relationships, promoting self-care, and recognizing and regulating stress.
Offline group
Empower college students to lead their peers in peer support activities, and through experiential and participatory learning methods, help young people to more professionally master knowledge and skills related to mental health, social emotional learning, and event organization, enabling them to better explore within themselves and grow into a person who integrates knowledge with action.
On-line community
Through online learning platforms, a series of psychological theme courses and community interaction check-ins are carried out to help young people explore themselves, learn positive methods to cope with stress and effectively build interpersonal relationships, correctly handle their emotions, and help improve interpersonal effectiveness and reduce the negative impact of stress.
